Very eventful day of college football on Saturday. A few upsets happened, which I will discuss, but let’s first discuss Mack Brown and the Texas Longhorns. Since losing 2 straight in their first 3 games, the Longhorns have won their last 3 games. This past Saturday they dominated the 12th ranked Oklahoma Sooners, 36-20, in the annual Red River Shootout. This win against Oklahoma took some of the fire off Mack Brown back because I thought he was 1 loss away from being fired. Now by defeating Oklahoma, he might have bought himself some more time. And shout out to the Longhorns players, its not easy to go out there and produce at a high level when your head coach job is on the line. So far they have been handling the pressure.

Fan-I 25
Bubble Squads: Auburn (5-1), Oklahoma State (4-1)
This was truly “survival Saturday” because 6 teams in the Fan-I 25 suffered losses, 5 of which loss to an un-ranked team. Stanford went into to Utah the 3rd best team and came out with a terrible loss that might have ended their championship chances, they officially need help from the other teams. Georgia, who have been escaping week after week, luck finally came to an end thanks to the Mizzou Tigers. Mizzou is undefeated on the year and leads the SEC East which includes Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia. They do not have to play Bama but they do not have an easy remaining 6 games. Texas exposed the Sooners while Michigan, just like Georgia, ran out of luck and couldn’t pull off another close game. Washington and Northwestern fell out of the 25, both suffering from 2 straight loses. I still like Washington, especially with Keith Price under center, they just need some more pieces to really put them on the next level.
Games to watch next weekend: #5 Florida State @ #4 Clemson, Auburn @ #6 Texas A&M, #12 UCLA @ #10 Stanford, #24 Florida @ #17 Missouri, #16 Texas Tech @ West Virgina(Trap Game)
Player of The Weekend
This week prime time player goes to Terry Begget of the Army Black Knights. Begget rushed for 304 yards and 4 TDs but only carried the ball 18 times against Eastern Michigan. He had touchdown runs of 4 yards, 67 yards, 34 yards, and 96 yards. That’s how you tote the rock.
Maryland Prep
It was a wet weekend here in the Maryland area, some high school games getting cancelled, other still played on. Dunbar and City College played their match up, both coming into this game as the two best teams in Baltimore City. Dunbar came out on top, 28-26, thanks to a 13 play 46 yard drive in the final 3 minutes of the game. Dunbar QB and West Virginia recruit, William Crest, scrambled for the game winning TD but if you ask any of the City players his knee was down before he reached the endzone. Dunbar hasn’t loss to a Baltimore City team in 2 years and hasn’t loss to City College since 2006. The dominance continues.
Heisman Watch
This has been a tough year for the Heisman voters. Even though its still early in the season, their hasn’t been any players that has separated themselves as the best player in the country. We have been seeing some great performances but I still think the Heisman is up for grabs. Here is a list of the players we think have been Heisman worthy so far this season.
